Why I love Babo Botanicals.
Babo is serious about creating plant based & natural body care. Babo’s founder, Kate Solomon, has a background in sustainable agriculture and beekeeping. This is something that’s reflected throughout their product line. They use a blend of 4 organic botanicals - Calendula, Chamomile, Watercress and Meadowsweet - which forms the basis of many of their products.
Kate started Babo after her first newborn, so the company also has a special focus on creating baby friendly products. This means their hair & skin concoctions are hypoallergenic and suited for those with sensitive skin. Babo Botanicals is very focused on creating safe & plant based concoctions free of harsh chemicals.
Strong focus on nature based safe ingredients:
Looking at the ingredients of Babo’s hair care & other products, one can see that they are truly botanical blends. As opposed to having only minuscule amounts of herbal extracts or oils - solely for marketing purposes - as we see with many mainstream brands. All their products are also free of synthetic fragrances & dyes, parabens, harsh sulfates and silicones.
Lastly, Babo has partnered with the Environmental Working Group (EWG), and their products are EWG verified.
My favorite Babo Botanicals concoctions.
Babo’s creations include shampoos & body wash, sunscreen, moisturizers and hand soaps, as well as an entire line focused on babies. Here are some of my favorites.
Babo Botanicals Natural Shampoo Review: purifying shampoos & body wash made with maracuja seed oil and flowers extracts of calendula, chamomilla and meadowsweet
Babo’s shampoos are free of harsh sulfates that can cause dry & itchy scalp and hair. Instead, they are made with enriching seed oils, cocoa and shea butters, and botanical extracts like chamomilla flower extract, watercress leaf extract + meadowsweet flower extract.
Their plant based formulas are thus suited for those with a sensitive skin, or anyone looking to avoid harsh chemicals that strip our scalp and body of their natural oils. While free of harmful chemicals, Babo’s shampoos and conditioners are highly effective at purifying.
Babies stand up (or imagine to ;)): Babo also has a focus on the newborns. Babo’s Sensitive Baby Fragrance Free Bubble Bath, Wash & Shampoo is made with botanicals that protect delicate skin. The shampoo is hypoallergenic as well, which is true across their broader shampoo line.
Babo Botanicals Mineral Sunscreen Review: mineral based non-toxic sunscreens that protect while nourishing our skin + do not damage our precious coral reefs
Babo’s sun care products are mineral based with non-nano Zinc Oxide as the primary active ingredient. Whilst protecting us from sun’s UVA and UVB rays, their sunscreens are actually nourishing for our skin and are full of vitamins and anti-oxidants.
All their sunscreens are also free of nasty petrochemicals like Oxybenzone, Octinoxate and Octocrylene which are known to be harmful to the aquatic life and are bad for our bodies. Given sunscreen stays on our skin for hours, the safety of ingredients becomes especially important.
