Jack Henry Products Reviewed: Styling + Hold Clay Pomade | Styling Paste | CLEANSE+ Shampoo
Why I Love Jack Henry.
Born out of beautiful Carlsbad in Southern California, Jack Henry focuses on natural and minimalistic men’s hair & body care products. Kyle Bardouche, the founder, started and named the company after their first new born. The goal was creating body care that exudes style and confidence - without the harmful chemicals. Jack Henry has achieved that and then some.
An approach to ingredients that is minimal, purposeful and natural.
As with the other small batch favorites, the company having a strong focus on ingredients is a requirement. Jack Henry certainly fits the bill for that. Jack Henry has been able to craft highly efficient all natural concoctions for their hair styling, shampoo, facial care and other products. The company’s motto is creating body care that supports a healthy microbiome.
Jack Henry Clay Pomade and Paste Review: minimalistic and nourishing hair styling pomade and paste made with beeswax, mango butter and clay
Jack Henry’s hair styling products are an alternative to toxic pomades. I love how they have been able to craft their styling products with such minimal and natural ingredients. Having been used to brands like American Crew and Paul Mitchell, I didn’t even know you could style and texturize your hair with something so simple yet effective.
Jack Henry’s Clay Pomade is literally made with only 4 ingredients - beeswax, bentonite clay, MCT oil and french lavender oil. That’s it! Absolutely incredible. Compare this to brands like American Crew, whose similar hair products have 25-30 ingredients. And these including harsh and unwanted additives like synthetic fragrance, artificial colors and toxic allergens like triethanolamine.
And it certainly works. Clay is Jack Henry’s stronger pomade and provides all day hold as well as thickness and volume.
Their second hair styling product is Paste. The paste only has 6 ingredients including mango butter, beeswax and kaolin clay - and of course nothing synthetic and harsh. The plant derived and phytonutrients rich ingredients in Paste nourish our scalp for naturally healthy hair. Paste is designed for a lighter hold and provides amazing texture and consistency.
Both Jack Henry hair styling products - the Clay Pomade and the Paste - thus provide style and texture that is guilt free and actually good for our hair!
Jack Henry Men’s Natural Shampoo Review: a botanical rich shampoo that balances our microbiome
I was also impressed with Jack Henry’s cleansing shampoo. The Jack Henry CLEANSE+ hair shampoo starts with a castile soap base of coconut + olive oils which forms a mild yet effective surfactant. Then comes the shampoo’s natural nourishment with ingredients full of botanical oils and vitamins.
Let’s start with the bergamot oil in this enriching concoction. Bergamot oil has natural antioxidant and antimicrobial properties. Bergamot also stimulates scalp blood flow helping nutrients reach our hair follicles and thus helping with hair growth. It also soothes and relaxes our scalp!
Similarly, cedarwood oil also improves scalp blood circulation which again helps with nutrient absorption. The shampoo removes buildup and enriches our hair naturally. Needless to say, the Jack Henry shampoo is also free of parabens, harsh sulfates, plastic silicones and synthetic fragrance.
This plant based goodness is well worth the price from my perspective. Better to take care of our precious hair with a nourishing and nutrient rich shampoo, than to damage it by using harsh chemical based shampoos, and later spend a lot more money trying to reverse that damage.
All in, Jack Henry proves that you don’t have to sacrifice style and beauty when you go all natural.
